Sophia Hutchins, Caitlyn Jenner’s close friend and personal manager, has tragically died at just 29 years old following a devastating ATV accident in Malibu.
Hutchins, who spent nearly a decade by Jenner’s side both personally and professionally, was pronounced dead at the scene on Wednesday, July 2, after the fatal crash.
According to TMZ, which first broke the news, Hutchins was riding an ATV on the road near Jenner’s Malibu property when she collided with the back bumper of a moving car.
The impact reportedly threw Hutchins off course and over the shoulder of the road, sending her plunging more than 350 feet into a ravine. Emergency crews arrived quickly, but she was declared dead on the scene.
The two passengers in the other vehicle were unharmed, and no additional injuries were reported. It remains unclear whether Jenner was at home when the accident occurred.
Hutchins and Jenner’s unique bond has been well documented over the years. The pair first met in 2015, shortly after Jenner’s public transition. Hutchins, who also transitioned around the same time, appeared alongside Jenner on the reality series I Am Cait, which chronicled Jenner’s journey and activism for the trans community.
Speaking about their connection in a previous interview on The Hidden Truth with Jim Breslo, Hutchins described the depth of their friendship and professional relationship.
We have so much in common; we see the world so similarly and we both are such a good match for each because we challenge each other,” she said at the time. “She challenges me in so many ways, has allowed me to grow in so many ways and I hope I challenge her to grow, too. Because we share so many of the same passions and views, it’s just a great match, a great partnership.”
Outside her role as Jenner’s manager, Hutchins was an ambitious entrepreneur and a rising voice in media and business. She served as the CEO and director of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting equality and supporting the transgender community. Hutchins was also the founder and CEO of the health technology company LUMASOL and led her own consulting firm, Sophia Hutchins Consulting.
Recently, Hutchins began to build a name for herself in the world of political commentary, appearing on Fox News on multiple occasions to share her perspective on a range of topics.
News of her sudden passing has left friends, family, and the LGBTQ+ community in shock. As of now, Caitlyn Jenner has not yet made a public statement about the tragic accident.
