President Joe Biden announced he will not run for re-election in 2024, saying it’s time to pass the torch to a new generation. He called it an honor to serve and emphasized that defending democracy is more important than personal ambition.
Biden said he will focus on his duties for the next six months—cutting costs, protecting rights, fighting climate change and gun violence, and supporting global peace efforts.
He highlighted key accomplishments: job growth, reduced drug prices, expanded healthcare, climate and gun reform, and strong global leadership. He noted the U.S. economy is the strongest in the world.
Biden closed by praising Vice President Kamala Harris and reminding Americans that the future of democracy is in their hands. “Let’s work together to protect our democracy,” he said.
